Conference Detail

  • DateOctober 29-31, 2026.
  • LocationKonkuk University

Konkuk University’s Academy of Mobility Humanities will co-host the 2026 Global Mobility Humanities Conference (GMHC) with the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore. The conference will be held at Konkuk University from 29 October 2026.

Under the theme “Climate, Mobility and Infrastructure,” the conference seeks to explore, from international and interdisciplinary perspectives, a wide range of humanities, social scientific, artistic and technological discussions concerning mobility and infrastructure in an age of climate crisis.

Today, the climate crisis is transforming the ways in which humans and non-humans, cities and regions, and technologies and societies move. Mobility infrastructures are not only among the factors contributing to climate change, but are also themselves directly affected by its consequences. These changes are experienced unevenly across regions, classes, genders, races and generations, calling for renewed discussions on more sustainable mobility futures.

Building on the discussions of the 2022 GMHC, which addressed the theme of “Mobility, Infrastructure and the Humanities,” this year’s conference further expands its inquiry by examining the relationship between climate crisis and mobility infrastructure from multiple perspectives.

In the context of emerging technological environments such as electric vehicles, autonomous driving, platform mobility, data-driven urban infrastructure and Urban Digital Twins (UDTs), the conference aims to move beyond technological optimism and to foster more critical and creative forms of imagination for sustainable and futures of mobility.
