Konkuk University, the Academy of Mobility Humanities (Director: Inseop Shin) Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project published the book Climate Leviathan as part of the Mobility Humanities Translation Series (Interconnect). This volume is a translation of the book Climate Leviathan: A Political Theory of Our Planetary Future, authored by Joel Wainwright, a professor of the Geography Department at Ohio State University in the U.S., and Geoff Mann, a professor of the Geography Department at Simon Fraser University in Canada.

Professor Joel Wainwright researches political economy, environmental change, and social theory. His authored books include Decolonizing Development: Colonial Power and the Maya, Geopiracy: Oaxaca, Militant Empiricism, and Geographical Thought, and Memories of Marple.

Professor Geoff Mann is a senior researcher at the Institute for New Economic Thinking. He has authored In the Long Run We Are All Dead: Keynesianism, Political Economy and Revolution, and Money and Finance after the Crisis: Critical Thinking for Uncertain Times (co-authored). In Climate Leviathan, the two authors argue that rapid climate change will reshape the global political landscape. Part 1 provides an overview of the possible political and economic scenarios resulting from global warming. Part 2 explores the concept of “climate leviathan.” Part 3 discusses new political solutions demanded by the era of the climate crisis. This book aims to provide readers with a better understanding of the political dynamics in the age of climate crisis and insights into the future political dialogues we should engage in.
