Moving Towards Trantision: Commoning Mobility for a Low-Carbon Future
How can we transition to low-carbon mobility―
justly?
A research project on global mobility transition policies
The book is both a project report and a research monograph which presents the findings of a large-scale comparative study on mobility transition policies conducted across 14 countries as well as within international context such as the EU and the UN. Drawing on national policy documents from 14 countries, more than 42 regional case studies, policy materials developed by the UN and the EU, and in-depth interviews with key global policy stakeholders, the book offers a clear and systematic account of what “mobility transition” means today, how it is currently unfolding, and where it should be heading. Grounded in the recognition that global warming is an anthropogenic phenomenon, that mobility contributes significantly to carbon emissions, and that transportation systems remain heavily dependent on oil, the book argues that it is the time for a comprehensive transition which is needed for the whole planet, including ourselves.
