What happens when we read literature—especially poetry—through the lens of mobility? This book began with that question. There are many ways to read poetry, but interpreting texts in light of mobility issues expands their meaning and makes the reading experience more interesting. Since mobility issues are often connected to questions of “mobility justice,” reading modern poetry through this lens helps us understand not only the poetry itself but also contemporary society and the political nature of literature. The book focuses on poems from the 1980s and 1990s, a period of rapid urbanization and visible industrialization in Korea, making texts from this era particularly rich for analysis through the lens of mobility.
