The Academy of Mobility Humanities (Director: Inseop Shin) at Konkuk University published the mobility humanities interconnect series Life Adrift. Dr. Jiyoun Choi, an English literature scholar, translated Life Adrift (2019), a compilation of humanities and social science journals on climate change and migration by Professor Andrew Baldwin from Durham University’s Department of Human Geography and Lecturer Giovanni Bettini from Lancaster University.

Life Adrift examines the meaning of climate change and migration in today’s politics, philosophy, media, art, and literature. The authors view climate change and migration not as separate events but as interconnected phenomena. They analyse the effects of climate change within a world where moving bodies are ubiquitous. Through this lens, they suggest that the instability of today’s life, characterised by climate change in the Anthropocene, signifies a departure from traditional territorial understanding and signals a new journey as a vibrant form of mobility.
