Diaspora Humanities Series, Vol. 5

The fifth key theme of the Diaspora Humanities Series, which critically reflects on the various problems accompanying mobile lives in front of processes of delocalization in the age of globalization, is hyperbridity. This book intends to develop and excavate the theoretical force of hyperbridity or modes of thinking grounded in this concept and, by synthesizing and systematizing scholarly research across diverse fields related to hyperbridity, to lay a foundation for future studies.

Part I examines the ways in which contemporary discussions of hyperbridity have bifurcated. Part II rethinks Korean (post-)colonial modernity drawing on the concept of hyperbridity. Finally, Part III offers concrete analysis of hyperbridized sites, focusing on the human body and skin, spaces of translation, and places shaped by migrant lives.
