The Academy of Mobility Humanities at Konkuk University, directed by Professor Inseop Shin, has once again demonstrated its exceptional research competitiveness by being selected in two categories of the ‘2025 HK3.0 Researcher’ awards organised under the National Research Foundation of Korea’s Humanities Korea 3.0 (HK3.0) support programme.
🏆 Major Achievements
In this year’s awards, ten research centres from across the country participated, and the Academy and its affiliated researcher achieved the remarkable distinction of winning two out of the five categories.
- Academic Conference Category: Academy of Mobility Humanities, Konkuk University
- Book / Translation Category: HK Professor Taehee Kim
1. Academic Conference Category: The International Expansion of Infrastructure Humanities
During the first year of the project, the Academy established Infrastructure Humanities as its core agenda and has continuously organised academic conferences both in Korea and abroad. In particular, it received high praise for its strong planning and execution in addressing the major issues of infrastructure humanities in depth, while internationally sharing research outcomes and broadening academic discussion.

2. Book / Translation Category: Expanding the Horizons of Infrastructure Research
(HK Professor Taehee Kim)
Professor Taehee Kim has contributed to the expansion of infrastructure studies by introducing major global research trends to Korean audiences through the translation of Dominic Davies’s Imperial Infrastructure, and by publishing Infrastructure in the Anthropocene: Environment, Planet, and Digital Media. Through these works, Professor Kim has added significant academic value by examining infrastructure from multiple perspectives, including environment, planetarity, and digital media.

Now in the second year of its HK3.0 project, the Academy of Mobility Humanities will continue to expand the academic and social impact of its research through the following activities:
- continuing to host domestic and international academic conferences and deepen its research agenda
- translating major overseas works and publishing a book series on infrastructure humanities
- returning the成果 of humanities research to society through the publication of books for general readers
The Academy will continue striving to establish itself as a world-class research institute leading the field of Infrastructure Humanities. We extend our sincere thanks to all members of the Academy and to everyone who has shown us their support and interest.
