Introduction

The Humanities Education Center was established to revitalize regional humanities by developing and disseminating high-quality humanities courses, thereby returning the research achievements of the institute to civil society. The development of mobility technologies has brought significant changes to human life, and people must adapt to these transformations. In this era of high mobility, the role of the Center is to help citizens cultivate the awareness, sound understanding, and critical capacity necessary to develop humanities literacy suited to the times.

To this end, we have developed and provided the “Mobility Hi-Story 100” to educate citizens and build cultural knowledge about mobility. In addition, through the Mobility Humanities Festival and the Mobility Humanities Fair, we have encouraged active citizen participation, creating what we consider a valuable case for returning research outcomes to society.

Now, through the new agenda of the Academy of Mobility Humanities, “Infrastructure Humanities,” we aim to further expand and deepen our research achievements. Considering the constant emergence of technological innovations, it is clear that various forms of material and immaterial infrastructure that enable human mobility will only become more important in future society. Infrastructure is not limited to individual well-being; it is a matter of societal and national sustainability, and indeed a global issue for all humankind. The Humanities Education Center will continue to develop as an institution that helps civil society understand the multilayered social issues brought about by infrastructural innovation and seek viable alternatives.
