During the Mobility Humanities Colloquium, Professor Donghoo Lee (Department of Media and Communication, Incheon National University) delivered a presentation titled “The Smartphone as a Condition of Life: Being Aware of Media Ecological Mediation.”

Renowned in media ecology, Professor Lee has authored significant papers including “Immersive VR Devices and the Reconfiguration of Tactility: Revisiting McLuhans Media-Sense Theory” (2023), “On the Communication Condition of ‘Metaverse’: Exploring Its Evolving Virtuality” (2022), and “Media Ecological Exploration of Digital Classrooms in the Era of COVID-19: A Focus on the Remote Classroom Environment Mediated by Zoom” (2021). Notable publications authored by Professor Lee include How Media Became Human Conditions (2021) and Mobile Media Environment and Humans (2018).

In this lecture, Professor Lee discussed media ecology and expounded on how smartphones, as a form of mobile media, shape the condition of human experience. Specifically, he delved into the intricate relationship between the new media environment and humans regarding how they interact and co-evolve.
