Announcement: 2025 Global Mobility Humanities Conference (GMHC)

The Academy of Mobility Humanities at Konkuk University will host the 2025 Global Mobility Humanities Conference (GMHC) from Friday, December 5 to Saturday, December 6 at the Konkuk University Law School Building.

GMHC, being organized annually since 2019, is the world’s only international academic conference dedicated to the field of mobility humanities. The theme of this year’s conference is “Mobility Infrastructures of Humans, Non-Humans, and More-than-Humans,” bringing together about 60 scholars from 20 countries to share the latest research trends and findings.

This year’s keynote lecture will be delivered by Professor Ole B. Jensen from Aalborg University, Denmark, who will speak on “Infrastructures, Power, and Social Change.” Professor Jensen will deeply examine how infrastructures that enable mobility can disadvantage specific groups through their design and policy decision processes, and how opportunities for movement become structurally unequal.

The conference features 15 sessions, including the keynote, with contributions from researchers across philosophy, geography, sociology, literature, cultural studies, urban studies, and other fields. It will also include a book discussion session focusing on newly published research, as well as sessions for graduate students and early-career scholars to present their work, fostering active academic exchange.
