Exploring the Invisible Foundations that Sustain Everyday Life through Infrastructure Humanities
What enables us to carry out and maintain our everyday activities? What sustains our lives is the operation of infrastructure, which may at first appear immobile and insignificant. Understanding the complex and multilayered ways in which material and immaterial infrastructures exist also provides a key to examining the systems that make our lives possible while rendering the lives of others impossible.
Drawing on research in Infrastructure Humanities across literature, geography, women’s studies, theatre, art, and film, the lecture examined the multiple meanings of infrastructure and its sociocultural roles.
