Professor Maria Luisa Torres Reyes, founding editor and honorary editor of Kritika Kultura, a renowned online academic journal based in the Department of English at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, delivered a presentation titled “Critical Island Studies, Infrastructure, and the Humanities.” In her talk, she explained how critical island studies offer an alternative to conventional continent-centered geographical research, and what significance this holds for the humanities and mobility studies.
