Exploring the Social Meaning of Future Infrastructures

Under the theme “Anticipatory Infrastructures”, the conference examined the role and significance of infrastructure in the processes of anticipating, imagining, and designing the future. Around 40 scholars in the humanities and social sciences from six countries—Korea, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, and Singapore—shared recent research on the temporality, power dynamics, and social conditions of infrastructure across a wide range of topics, including AI, automobility, digital transformation, mobility, ecology, and care.

On 23 February, an official reception was hosted by Professor Craig Jeffrey, Senior Vice-President and Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) of Monash University. During the reception, the two institutions discussed ways to expand future collaborative research and academic exchange.
